For supporters

Do I need an account to support someone?

No account, no app, no sign-up — ever. Open the link or scan the QR code, choose an amount, and pay. The whole process takes about 10 seconds.

What payment methods are accepted?

Apple Pay, Google Pay, and all major credit/debit cards — Visa, Mastercard, American Express, and Discover. Apple Pay and Google Pay work with a single tap using your saved card or device biometrics. No card details need to be manually entered.

Can I add a personal message?

Yes. Every page has an optional message field. The recipient sees your message alongside their notification. Messages are limited to 500 characters.

Can I support anonymously?

Yes. Both your name and email are fully optional. If you leave them blank, the recipient sees the support as 'Anonymous.' Your payment is still processed securely by Stripe regardless.

Is my payment information secure?

All payments are processed by Stripe, which holds PCI-DSS Level 1 certification — the highest standard of payment security in the industry. KindTip never sees, stores, or has access to your card number, CVV, or banking credentials. Everything goes directly through Stripe's encrypted systems.

Can I get a receipt?

Yes. Enter your email address during checkout and you'll receive a receipt immediately. You can also access a permanent shareable receipt page at kindtip.app/receipt/[your-tip-id]. This page can be shared as proof of your support.

Can I support a specific amount not on the presets?

Yes. Every tip page has a custom amount field. You can type any amount between $1 and $500.

What is the minimum and maximum I can support?

The minimum is $1.00. The maximum is $500.00 per transaction. For larger amounts, please contact support.

Can I rate the service?

Yes — there's an optional star rating (1–5) on every page. Ratings are anonymous and help recipients improve. The average rating is shown on their profile.

Are there any fees for supporters?

No. The amount you enter is exactly what is charged to your card. KindTip does not add any fees on top of the amount you choose. Stripe's standard processing fees (2.9% + $0.30) and any applicable platform fee are deducted from what the recipient receives, not added to what you pay.

Can I cancel or get a refund after supporting?

Payments are processed immediately and transfers are typically initiated within 24 hours. Refunds are handled on a case-by-case basis. Contact hello@kindtip.app within 24 hours of the transaction with your receipt. Note that once funds have been transferred to a recipient, refunds are at the recipient's discretion.

What currency does KindTip use?

All transactions are processed in US Dollars (USD). If your card is in a different currency, your bank will apply its own conversion rate.

For recipients

How do I create a page?

Go to kindtip.app/sign-up, enter your name and email, choose your profession, and your page is live in under 2 minutes. You get a personal link (kindtip.app/yourname) and a downloadable QR code immediately.

Is it free?

Yes — the basic plan is free forever. You get a personal page, QR code, personal Print Kit, Apple Pay / Google Pay / card support, notifications, and basic analytics. A 3% platform fee applies to each transaction on the free plan. KindTip Pro ($9/month) removes the platform fee entirely and adds KindScore, Kind Menu, thank-you messages, and support goals.

What is the platform fee?

Free plan users pay a 3% platform fee per transaction, which is deducted from the tip amount before it reaches your account. Pro and Teams plan users pay 0% — they keep the full amount (minus Stripe's standard processing fee of 2.9% + $0.30 per transaction, which is charged by Stripe and applies to all plans).

How and when do I get paid?

You get paid directly to your bank account via Stripe Express — the same technology used by Lyft, DoorDash, and Shopify. Connect your bank once under Settings → Bank Account & Payouts. After your first payout (which Stripe holds for 7 days for new accounts), payouts are automatic on a rolling 2-day basis. You never have to manually withdraw anything.

Do I need a Stripe account?

You don't need to create a Stripe account separately. KindTip uses Stripe Express, which is a lightweight, guided setup built into your settings. You'll enter your name, date of birth, SSN last 4 digits (for US identity verification), and your bank account routing and account numbers. Setup takes about 2 minutes.

Which countries are supported for payouts?

At this time, payouts are available to bank accounts in the United States. International payout support is on our roadmap. You can receive support payments from anyone in the world regardless of your location.

Can I change my username?

Usernames cannot be changed self-serve to protect your QR codes and links from breaking. Contact hello@kindtip.app to request a change. We handle username change requests within 2 business days.

Can I have multiple pages?

Each account has one personal page. Business accounts (Teams plan) can create a business hub page that aggregates all staff members.

How do support goals work?

Support goals are a Pro feature. Set a title (e.g. 'Help me buy a new amp'), a target amount, and an optional description. A progress bar appears on your page showing supporters how close you are to your goal. Progress counts from the moment you activate the goal — previous tips don't count toward it. This transparency encourages more support.

What is Kind Menu?

Kind Menu is a Pro feature that lets you add a label to each preset tip amount — like 'Buy me a coffee' for $5, 'Cover my lunch' for $15, or 'Support my craft' for $25. Labels appear below each preset button on your page, making the support feel more personal and intentional.

What is KindScore?

KindScore is a Pro feature that analyzes your profile and gives it a score from 0–100 based on completeness and optimization. It shows you exactly what to improve (photo, bio, tip amounts, goals, etc.) and estimates how many more support interactions each improvement could drive.

Can I deactivate my page?

Yes. Under Settings → Danger Zone, you can deactivate your page. Your page will no longer be publicly accessible, and your QR code will stop working. Your account data and earnings history are preserved. You can reactivate at any time by contacting support.

What notifications will I receive?

You receive an email notification every time someone supports you. If you add a phone number in Settings → Notifications, you also receive an SMS notification in real time. Email notifications include the amount, the supporter's name (if provided), their message, and a receipt link.

What does the weekly summary include?

Pro and Teams users receive a weekly email every Monday morning summarizing last week's earnings, top supporters, and insights — like your best day and your earnings trend compared to the previous week.

Business accounts

How does a business hub work?

A business hub gives your business one shared page (e.g. kindtip.app/business/yourshop) where customers can see all your team members and choose who to support. Each team member receives their support directly to their own bank account — no pooling, no distribution delays.

What plans include business features?

Business features require a Teams plan. Teams Starter ($29/month) supports up to 5 staff members. Teams Growth ($79/month) supports unlimited staff and adds AI feedback summaries, review generation, and the team morale dashboard.

Do staff members need their own accounts?

Yes. Each staff member must create their own free KindTip account and connect their own bank account. The business owner then adds them to the business hub by their username. Staff members manage their own profiles, payouts, and settings independently.

Do staff members get Pro features?

Yes. When a business owner adds a staff member to their Teams business, the staff member automatically gets Pro-level features on their individual account — at no extra cost to them. Features include KindScore, Kind Menu, and thank-you messages. The personal Print Kit is already free for every KindTip user. If the owner's subscription is cancelled, staff plan access reverts to Free.

Does the business hub share tips across staff?

No. Each tip goes directly to the individual staff member the supporter chooses. There is no pooling or redistribution. The business hub simply gives customers a single QR code to discover all staff members.

Can the owner see staff earnings?

Yes. The business analytics dashboard shows total team earnings, individual member performance, recent team tips, and comparative metrics. Staff member earnings are visible to the business owner for management purposes.

What is the business print kit?

The business print kit (included in all Teams plans) includes three print formats: a business wall poster with your business QR code, individual station table tents for each staff member, and individual staff tip cards. All formats are professionally designed and ready to print.

Pricing & plans

What is included in the free plan?

The free plan includes everything you need to get started: a personal support page, downloadable QR code, personal Print Kit with posters, table tents, stickers and cards, Apple Pay / Google Pay / card support, email and SMS notifications, basic analytics dashboard, and the ability to set up custom tip amounts. A 3% platform fee applies to each transaction.

What does Pro add?

KindTip Pro ($9/month or $79/year) adds: 0% platform fee (save 3% on every transaction), KindScore optimization score, Kind Menu tip labels, personalized thank-you messages, support goals with progress bar, and weekly earnings summary emails. The personal Print Kit remains free on every plan. Pro pays for itself if you earn just $300/month — the 3% fee savings alone cover the subscription cost.

Is there a free trial?

Yes. New Pro subscribers get a 7-day free trial with no credit card required at signup. You can cancel before the trial ends and will never be charged.

Can I cancel anytime?

Yes. Cancel from Settings → Account at any time. Your plan remains active until the end of your current billing period. No cancellation fees. No questions asked.

Is there an annual discount?

Yes. Annual billing saves you significantly: Pro saves $29/year ($79 vs $108), Teams Starter saves $99/year ($249 vs $348), and Teams Growth saves $249/year ($699 vs $948).

What happens to my data if I cancel?

Your account data, tip history, and earnings records are preserved for 90 days after cancellation. After 90 days, account data may be permanently deleted in accordance with our Privacy Policy. Download your data before cancelling if you need to keep records.

Security & privacy

How is my data protected?

KindTip is built on enterprise-grade infrastructure: Supabase (PostgreSQL database with row-level security), Clerk (SOC 2 Type II certified authentication), Stripe (PCI-DSS Level 1 payments), and Vercel (edge-network hosting). All data is encrypted in transit (TLS 1.3) and at rest (AES-256).

Does KindTip sell my data?

No. KindTip never sells, rents, or trades your personal information to any third party for marketing or advertising purposes. See our Privacy Policy for full details on what data we collect and how we use it.

What security features are available?

Your account supports two-factor authentication (2FA) via authenticator app (TOTP), automatic session logout after inactivity (configurable from 15 minutes to 'never'), login activity log showing recent sign-ins with device and location info, and email alerts for new logins from unrecognized devices.

How do I report a security issue?

Please email hello@kindtip.app immediately. Do not publicly disclose any vulnerability until we've had a chance to investigate and respond. We aim to respond to security reports within 24 hours.

What data does KindTip collect about supporters?

For supporters, we collect only what you voluntarily provide: your name (optional), email (optional), payment method (processed by Stripe — we never see card details), message (optional), and rating (optional). We also collect standard server logs including IP address and device information for fraud prevention.

Troubleshooting

I haven't received my payout — what do I do?

First, confirm your bank account is connected under Settings → Bank Account & Payouts. New accounts have a 7-day hold on first payouts (this is Stripe's policy). After the hold period, payouts typically arrive within 2 business days. If you're past the hold period and haven't received a payout, check your Stripe Express dashboard (accessible from your KindTip settings) for payout status. If the issue persists, contact hello@kindtip.app.

My QR code isn't working — what should I check?

Ensure your profile is active (check under Settings → Danger Zone). Confirm the QR code links to the correct URL. If you've had your username changed, old QR codes still work — they redirect automatically. If none of these apply, contact support.
